We are honored to be co-organizers of the first “Wiki Mentor Africa Hackathon.” The Wiki Mentor Africa Hackathon will focus on the ISA Tool (ISA on Commons • ISA on Toolforge).
The ISA Tool is a fun, multilingual, mobile-first ‘microcontributions’ tool, that makes it easy for anyone (especially Wikipedian newbies) to add structured data to images on Wikimedia Commons. The ISA Tool is a crucial platform for the African region and supports essential campaigns such as “Wiki Loves Africa”.
The goal of the hackathon is to gather African developers and Wikimedia contributors together to make the ISA Tool better. This hackathon is a chance for everyone, whether new or experienced, to learn, share, and help. We want to improve the ISA Tool together and make our Wikimedia community stronger.
Small participation scholarships are being offered. Join us to make a difference!
Participation is …
- Open to developers, designers, technical writers, and Wikimedia community members.
- Great for both new and experienced Wikimedians.
- The hackathon will happen online using Zoom. Everyone interested can join.
- To take part, please register on this event page.
This is an excellent opportunity for people who are new or already know about Wikimedia to work together and learn. We’re excited to see what we can do together!
